Read your car like the dealer does.
Plug in a small adapter and your Mac, tablet or phone becomes a deep car scanner. Every trouble code comes with a plain-English explanation, so you know what's wrong, how serious it is, and what to check first.
- Pay once, no subscription
- Every code explained
- Works on 1996 and newer
Stop paying the dealer just to find out what's wrong.
Cheap code readers give you a number and send you to look it up. Pro scanners cost thousands and charge hundreds more every year just to keep them current. And some things only the dealer could see.
Streetwise Scan goes deeper than a code reader, explains everything in plain language, and doesn't charge you every year to stay useful.
Everything a scanner should do, explained like a friend who knows cars.
Got a code? Type it in.
This is a sample of the code library inside Streetwise Scan. In the app, the codes come straight from your car, along with the freeze frame and live data to back them up.
P0420
Type a code on the left to see what it means.

No more looking it up yourself.
- What the code means, in plain English
- How serious it is: low urgency, fix soon, or stop driving

Watch your engine while you drive.

- Display only while moving. Nothing is ever sent to the car while driving.

Go deeper on the cars you work on.
Every car gets the full standard scanner. A Brand Pack unlocks the factory-level data and functions for that make: transmission and body modules, ABS and airbags, enhanced live data and service functions. Every pack is tested on real vehicles before release.
Lamborghini and Ferrari
Exotics follow the same standard as every other car, so the standard scanner works on them out of the box. The Exotic Packs go further: engine and transmission data, module identification and codes, decoded on the actual cars and road-tested before we release them.
- Decoded and tested on real vehicles
- Module part numbers and software versions
- Engine and gearbox live data
- Coverage list by model and year
More makes on the way
Every gas and hybrid car below already works with the standard scanner today. Brand Packs for them are being built and road-tested one make at a time, and they'll appear in the app as each one is ready.
Vehicle make names are used only to describe compatibility. Streetwise Scan isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer.
Built for anyone who'd rather know than guess.
Find out what the check engine light means before you buy parts or pay for a diagnosis. Fix the easy stuff yourself and walk into the shop informed on the rest.
Full system scans, enhanced data and service resets on the makes you see every day, without a yearly update bill. Hand customers a clean report they can understand.
Scan before you buy. Hidden codes, cleared codes and monitors that aren't ready tell you a lot about a car in two minutes.
One license covers all your own vehicles. Keep a history of scans for every truck and car you own.

Three steps. About a minute.
Plug in the adapter
It goes in the diagnostic port under the dashboard, usually near your left knee. Every car sold in the US since 1996 has one.
Connect
Turn the key on and open Streetwise Scan. It finds the adapter and your car by itself and reads the VIN.
Scan
Read codes, watch live data, or run a full system scan. Everything is explained on screen.
See Streetwise Scan in 60 seconds.
Scanning only reads. Anything that changes the car, like clearing codes or running a reset, explains what it does and asks you to confirm.
On the road, the app only displays data. Tests and resets work only when the car is parked.
Scans and reports stay on your device. No account required, and no tracking where you drive.
Pay once. Add the brands you need.
Planned launch pricing. Final prices will be confirmed at launch.

Questions
Will it work on my car?
Every gas car and light truck sold in the US since 1996 supports the standard scanner: codes, live data, freeze frame and inspection check. How deep a Brand Pack goes depends on the model and year; the app shows coverage for your exact car before you buy a pack.
How is this different from a free code reader at the parts store?
A code reader gives you a code number. Streetwise Scan explains it, shows the live data behind it, scans every module in the car (not just the engine), and saves reports you can share.
Can it program keys or reflash computers?
No. Key programming and module reprogramming use the manufacturer's own dealer software and security, and we don't bypass that. Streetwise Scan focuses on finding problems and the common service resets.
Can it turn off my check engine light?
Yes, it can clear codes after a repair. If the problem is still there, the light will come back, and Streetwise Scan will tell you why.
Is it safe to use on my car?
Scanning only reads information. Anything that changes something, like clearing codes or running a reset, tells you what it does and asks you to confirm first. Tests and resets only work when the car is parked.
Do I need internet?
No. The code library is built in, so it works in a garage, a barn or the middle of nowhere.
Is there a yearly fee?
No. You pay once for the version you buy, and updates for that version are free.
Does it work on diesels, hybrids and electric cars?
Hybrids, yes, including hybrid battery health with the Toyota pack. Light-duty diesels support the standard scanner. Full electric vehicles vary by make; check coverage in the app.
